When is our sign on bonus paid?
$1,000 will be paid when you complete your first load. An additional $500 will be paid at the end of 180, and 270 days. And $2,000 at the end of your first year for a total of $4,000.
All dollars are paid to the truck, and split between the drivers
How much does the team earn per mile at Kibo Xpress?
Our team earnings will vary between $.78 and $.85 per practical mile .
Kibo Xpress offers a “Per Diem” pay also, that’s why the per mile pay varies, depending on how many miles you drive and how many days you are out in the week.
In addition to the $.78 to $.85 per mile pay…certain destinations receive a $.03, $.09 or $.15 per mile bonus, making the top pay for a route $1.00 per mile.
How am I paid?
Wireless via direct deposit (Kibo Xpress uses Paycor).
Miles are calculated using “practical miles”.
Loaded and empty miles are paid.
All pay (bonuses and regular) are split between the driver teams.
All pay will be reported to the driver annually via a W-2.
How are miles calculated?
Miles are calculated using practical miles. All dispatched miles (loaded and empty) are paid.
Do you offer a bonus for driver referral(s)?
Yes. $3,000 for a team. The bonus will be paid in installments after the drivers have driven for 6, 9 and 12 months for Kibo Xpress.
Can I get a referral bonus if I don’t drive for Kibo Xpress?
Yes, you are eligible for the same bonus as our drivers, with the same terms.
How long will Kibo Xpress keep their trucks?
The intention is to trade the trucks at 30 to 36 months, or about 600,000 miles and replace them with new trucks. Total miles may vary based on new truck availability and market conditions.
What if I lose my partner and I drive solo?
Solo drivers earn between $.50 and $.62 per mile (varies because of the per diem)
Every effort will be made to find you a new partner as quickly as possible.
Does Kibo Xpress offer a safety bonus?
The safety bonus program is sponsored by Forward Air. 100% of the safety bonus will be paid to the driver. Kibo Xpress is proud to report that we’ve had several teams earn the safety bonus. Recently that has been $250 per quarter per driver (subject to change based on Forward Air’s rate)
Can I earn vacation pay?
Yes, in the form of a bonus.
How do I earn vacation pay?
Drive 220,000 paid miles in a calendar year, and you’ll earn a weeks vacation. Each year you drive 220,000 paid miles, you’ll earn an additional week, up to 4 weeks maximum. Years do not have to be consecutive.
Can I lose my vacation pay?
Yes. In a year after earning a vacation week(s), you can lose a week if you don’t drive a minimum of 180,000 mile in a calendar year. Subject to losing all your earned vacation if you don’t drive 150,000 miles in a calendar year.
How will my vacation pay be calculated?
Vacation pay is calculated using your most recent complete year at Kibo Xpress. We’ll divide your annual earnings (will not include bonus dollars) by 52. That number will be used for your vacation pay for the following year. For example:
You’ve driven 3 years for Kibo Xpress and achieved 220,000 miles or more each year.
You are due 3 weeks vacation.
Last year on your W-2 you earned $90,000 (would be adjusted if you earned bonus money. Sign on bonus, vacation pay bonus, etc.)
You will be paid $1,730.77 ($90,000/ 52 weeks) for each week of vacation, or $5,192.31 ($1,730.77 x 3) for the year.
Vacation pay will be paid on February 15th.
What is it like to pull freight for Forward Air?
Forward Air operates over 90 terminals in the US and a few in Canada. Driving for Kibo Xpress you’ll be dispatched by Forward Air’s operations team in either Ohio or California. Your loads are 99% terminal-to-terminal.

Compared to “customer” deliveries, pulling terminal to terminal saves drivers multiple hours per week. These hours will result in more miles driven, more home time, and less stress!
Are there national accounts for things like washing the truck?
Yes. There is an account with Blue Beacon for washing the truck. The billing goes directly to Kibo Xpress so there is no money or receipts for the driver to deal with. There is also an account with CAT Scale for weighing the truck and Love’s for PM’s
